Consumer Unit Upgrades
Your consumer unit (or fuse board) is the heart of your electrical system. If it's outdated, lacks proper RCD protection, or shows signs of damage, it's time to consider an upgrade for both safety and compliance.
Why upgrade your consumer unit?
- Improved Safety: Modern boards include RCDs and SPDs which help prevent electric shock and protect against surges.
- Fire Prevention: Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) help detect and prevent potential electrical fires caused by loose connections or damaged cables.
- Peace of Mind: New installations meet current wiring regulations (BS 7671) and come fully tested and certified.
- Insurance Approved: Many insurers now recommend or require RCD protection throughout a property.
What’s involved in a board change?
We’ll begin with full testing of your existing circuits to ensure they’re fully functional. If we find any issues, we’ll discuss and rectify those with you before proceeding. Then we’ll disconnect your old board, install a new one that suits your property’s needs, and once fitted, we’ll test and label every circuit, issue NICEIC certification, and walk you through how everything works.
All our consumer unit upgrades come with certification and notification to building control where required.
